Polka dotty

This little post is an Ode to Mrs MDS, blogging queen, writer and stylist extraordinaire!
Earlier this week MDS and I were chatting about the pro's and con's of the Polka craze that is taking a firm grip on our high street.  Clients are always asking us do we mix dots with other prints?  Can we wear more than one type of polka at a time?  The answers are always YES, experiment with trends and have a sense of humour when trying them out.  So when your feeling dotty think of the below extras that you can add to a basic polka look to make it a little more interesting.

Go for good quality Polka tights Wolford are a great choice.
£37.00

£33.00

When dealing with separates, choose your polka item like this blouse from Full Circle £70.00 but mix your prints by layering over it.

This horse print jumper from ASOS £35.00 would be a great choice and the polka sleeves and pussy bow would create a great contrast.

Add these great ASOS trousers £40.00 and the £8.00 ankle socks below and you are ready for action.

Enjoy being dotty!  x

All of the above items can be found on www.asos.com

eattery's NYC part 2

So first port of call on our 2nd morning in NYC was the Magnolia Bakery (on columbus not the  bleeker street one).  Its known for its delicious iced cupcakes, but I had the raspberry crumb muffin and it was heavenly!

My sister looked as cute as a cupcake that day so I had to take a picture of her...

Lunch... after an hour of walking and 2 hours rowing was at The Boathouse (hence the rowing).  I have wanted to go here ever since seeing the film '27 dresses' and I was so glad that we got in for lunch (we waited for about 2 and a half hours) but it was well worth the wait..

This is the view of the Boathouse from the lake..

The view of the lake from inside, If i lived in New York and was having a summer wedding, I would want it here!

Not only was the setting, the view and the weather amazing, the food and drink that we consumed was fabulous.. 2 of my favourite things were on the menu Sancerre and Lobster, so we drank beautiful wine and ate beautiful food..

As you can imagine after all that food at lunch we skipped dinner and headed straight out on the town to A60 the roof bar at the 60 Thompson Street Hotel, it was lovely sitting on the roof and the drinks were nice but it was a little on the cold side..

Had to include this picture to show that the Miu Miu's made it to NYC with me.

From there we headed to the Meat Packing District and I will be honest it is all a bit of a Gin and Tonic blur from that point on!  But i do remember getting Pizza at 4am and thinking it was delicious.

You would think that after all of that food and partying that we would be sick of eating out, well you would be wrong on the last night after a final day of sight seeing and shopping we ventured to Chelsea and found the cutest restaurant on 10th Avenue called Red Cat.  It had a great interior and is one of those restaurant's that had real atmosphere and the all important glow (good lighting).  We drank a delicious bottle of Albarino and munched on soft shell crab followed by apple beignets which were heavenly.  I would highly recommend a visit for the atmosphere if you just want a drink at the bar but promise me you will try the beignets trust me...

Unfortunately now I am back in the real world and pounding my body at the gym to make up for the indulgence, but It was so worth it and Mrs MDS is my diet inspiration.

Christmas Party

As promised if not a little late.. some pics of the stylists on the Christmas Party!

Fellow blogger and colleague MakeDoStyle got ready at casa Waceystyle as she was due a pre Christmas hair cut. So we have some fab before pics of MDS and I then a great one of the NHJ Style team at Adam Street after one too many glasses of Vino.

This pic is post hair cut and pre party, MDS is modelling the latest in hair accessories and control underwear which in this case are being used to keep up a pair of Topshop leather trousers!

This is post underwear pre final hair!

Me pre shower, hair, make-up and control undies!!!!!
MDS the final hairstyle.....
MDS in her cameo role as Mary of Nazareth about to get on her donkey (also known as her cab) to the CChristmas party.

A lovely selection of pics from the entire NHJ gang looking very glam.  Annoyingly I forgot to get a full pic of my outfit but it was a dress from Joseph and some uber high heels from Carvella!

I also had my annual Christmas party with the boyf and seeing as there is no full pic of my NHJ party outfit here is my outfit from my other Christmas party.  I opted for my Topshop dress, purple tights and my uber high carvella heels.
I then popped on these fab earrings from Coast that I got for £9 bargain!!

After seeing this pic of my sister and I, I decided to remove the Carvella shoes for fear that I looked like a giant!

Busy doing ... Nothing

Slap my wrist, for I have been a bad blogger!
I apologise for my lack of online antics, but I had the rents to stay for a long weekend and they stay in my basement which is also my office... and when they were not in the office the boyfriend who is studying his socks off for exams at the end of May is!!! Which means no blog time for Waceystyle.

This morning I returned to my perfect little office and I feel so at home. I also have a ton of paperwork and blogging to get done before my client this evening.

SOOoooooooooo.......

Last week I attended the My Wardrobe Autumn/Winter 10 Press event and wanted to fill you in on the items I thought were fab. As you may or may not know I am a little bit obsessed with accessories so most of my fab finds were accessories!

I loved this beautiful head piece by Mezi which were a last minute addition but a great alternative accessory. I wear hairbands and jewelled hair accessories all the time and this looked great against the colour of my hair! (see MDS blog)

These Sam Edelman shoes are my new shoe heaven!! Having realized that I will never get my hands on my Miu Miu's I will be buying these. They are Fierce!

Boyfriend.... I would love this Mulberry bag... pretty please. x
Then my favourite stand out was the fabulous jewellery by Merle O'Grady.. check out the fabulous selection..

This is Black Onyx!

And these rings are just as fierce as the shoes above and would therefore need to be another addition to the ever growing jewellery box!

There was also some fabulous new jewellery from Lucy Hutchings but as I have the most terrible camera the pictures are all out of focus! You will all just have to wait until they go on sale but as usual they are adorable!

In fact I was even wearing her jewellery on the day, picture courtesy of MDS

She Means Business Event 2010 and Goody Bag Competition

The SHE means business event was held at HSBC Towers in Canary Wharf and the event was a great success. Myself and Mrs Make Do Style where there with the NHJ Style team and decided to both blog about different elements of the evening, but i apologise if there is some cross over! I also need to apologise for some of the photography.. after a glasses of bubbles it would appear that our photographic hands are not quite as steady.

The she poster that MDS wanted to graffiti...

The Fashion Show Work wear

Outfit 1: Animal print Jaeger Top worn with cream cigarette pant trouser from Next
This is a really easy way to introduce print into your wardrobe and stay cool in Summer add big glasses and over sized bag to make it your own!
Outfit 2: Military Jacket M&S worn with top and bag from Next.
Well done M&S this jacket is a great shape and bang on trend!
Outfit 3: Grey jersey dress from Wallis and bag from Boden.
Really great idea for a throw it on dress for summer, i would add a statement necklace and a coloured wedge to make a little more exciting.
Outfit 4: Stripey jacket from Next, Polka dot dress from Planet, shoes LK Benett.
What a great little office outfit.. instead of adding the obvious red mix in green or acid orange accessories.

I also have to mention a fab outfit in their work wear section that we could not get a pick of which was a Mint Velvet dress with a zip detail on the shoulder worn with a next wedge looked great. They also had a fab Audrey Hepburn Esq Grey work dress from Austin Reed, so if your in the look out for one pop over to see it!

We then moved into Evening Wear

Outfit 1: Grey Zip detail top M&S worn with Next trousers and LK Benett shoes.
This outfit is great for relaxed office to pub, or site seeing chic and easy to achieve.
Outfit 2: Sequin dress Planet and nude shoes Pied a Terre.
This dress is not my cup of tea at all! I am all for summer sparkle but this looks like all the wrong kind of coloured sparkle on one ill fitting dress!
Outfit 3: All in One M&S and fab Red wedges which annoyingly I did not write down the info for!
I love love love this outfit and want it want it want it. I was wearing an All in one on the night and we have decided this M&S one or the Topshop equivalent are the best. I am also kicking myself for not noting down the shoes i will continue my search! MDS is going to buy this outfit and she is going to look fab in it!
Outfit 4: Black dress with cream bow detail from Burnshaw shoes Pied a Terre.
Again not my cup of tea as it is a little obvious but the bow detail is quite cute!

Other outfit to mention strapless all in one from next with beading detail really easy to wear in the Summer.

Evening and Weekend Wear Continued
Outfit 1: Red dress by Burnshaw and shoes LK Bennett.
They also showed a black and white version of this dress which i HATED! But this little number had the wow factor.
Outfit 2: Denim shorts, white 'T' and boots from Next and chunky Knit cardigan from Jaeger.
Loving this outfit.. could not pull it off myself but if you have an athletic figure and a small bust wear it with some retro Sunny's!
Outfit 3: Stripey 'T', blazer and zip detail skirt all M&S.
This is a great little summer outfit for work or weekend. Wear a coloured wedge and add a floral print bag and it would be even more adorable.
Outfit 4: White Jeans M&S, animal print cardigan by Boden, Bag by Next and shoes LK Bennett.
Easy way to introduce print and it looks pretty chic.

Weekend Wear

Outfit 1: Stripey 'T' by Dorothy Perkins, Cardigan by Boden, Jeans by Next, Bag from Jaeger.
Want this bag make it mine!!!
Outfit 2: Green silk shirt by Jaeger, jeans and sparkle bag by Next, shoes LK Bennett.
Also want this bag... but this one i can actually afford! yay
Outfit 3: Stripey top by Dorothy Perkins and shorts by Boden
Great look with no effort! If you have shapely thighs keep shorts long if you have skinny pins wear them short!
Outfit 4 : Peach vest by M&S, Jeans by Boden, Hat by Planet and Scarf by Jaeger.
How cute is this outfit.? A hat always makes a statement and this one is easy to wear in summer with a print dress, jeans or at the beach!

The event was good fun and we got to meet some lovely ladies from all over the UK! The gorgeous girls from the fashion department at SHE who did not seem to mind us quizzing them on the new dynamics in the fashion department. Nicky Hambleton Jones who looked fantastic as ever, no sign of baby destroying this fashionistas style! I also have to mention the lovely lady in the blue silk top, her Mum and her sister who were an absolute giggle. The stylish Laura Kate Scott with her gorgeous pill box hat. Beverley Webb from Beautiful Bras for being a SHE lady who meant business and who stocks some fab bras.

Here is a little pic of the models off duty... with their SHE goody bags one of which I have to give away in a competition!
