Winter Accessories - Wish list

I love it when the weather starts getting cold and I can start thinking about my winter accessories list!  The list is ever changing and usually involves a fantasy story to accompany each accessory, and subsequently usually ends up being a catalogue rather than a list, here are a few that I have added for the time being!

I love theses purple over the knee socks from River Island.  They are only £6.99 and will look fab with my brogues and great to keep me warm in  my drafty house!  (actually I have already purchased them, oops)

Because my house is so cold in Winter I usually wear my fluffy sheep slippers, but have not found any replacements that I love yet.  I will of course keep looking but should I fail I have found these fab furry feet warming boots from Zara, the downside is that they are £108 and I am not sure if they are worth it!

This little pom pom eared Bear face beany is SO adorable.  I think the child in me is imagining wearing this and diving into a heap of autumn leaves, and I am loving the dream, so I will be parting with 12 of my hard earned pounds at Topshop in the very near future!
Once I have embraced my inner child and frolicked in the leaves, I will be reverting back to the uber glamorous woman that I am and sport this fabulous statement necklace, £95 from Reiss, with an even more fabulous frock (yet to be chosen) whilst drinking champagne in front of an open fire in a gorgeously opulent country manor hotel with my beloved!
Did I mention that I love Autumn Winter?

Beautiful Bumps!

As 2 of my fabulous friends are currently pregnant and dressing their beautiful bumps, I thought I would look at the Maternity wear available on the high street and I was pleasantly surprised with the selection.  Gone are the days of smocks and ill fitting maternity jeans, now the maternity wear is stylish and bang on trend so as your body changes your sense of style does not have to!  Most high street brands do maternity versions of the current collections and the specialist Maternity wear designers do fabulous classics that look luxurious and comfortable, but most of all stylish!

So this blog entry is for Ruth and Hazel and all you other gorgeous pregnant ladies!

Topshop has a great selection of maternity and the London Flagship also has a great maternity section which is almost its own little shop.  I think it is important to stay true to your own personal style when pregnant and this outfit i have picked out would be a great everyday outfit that can be dressed up or down with accessories.

These camel trousers £40 are bang on trend in the camel camp, but also really flattering.

I would add this floral top £35 which has a fabulous open back for a great day look.

Alternatively glam them up with this great cobweb top £18 and add some gold or silver necklaces and a smokey eye and your away!  The fab thing is all of these are in the maternity range so they will fit your bump, your lifestyle and your bank balance!

Isabella Oliver has a great selection of maternity day wear, but the items that really stood out where the selection of dresses with some great day to day looks but also fabulous occasion wear options, from black tie to weddings.  This is the place to go for flattering and feminine maternity evening wear both of these dresses are $195 but well worth the investment.

The first dress I have selected would work really well for day, evening or special occasion by adding layering and boots to dress it down or glitzy accessories to dress it up!

The second look I thought was a fab winter look and includes the new maternity polo neck $115, that they have added to there collection!

Mama's and Papa's also do great selection of maternity wear as well as gorgeous baby stuff and these 2 looks are both from Mama's and Papa's and look really stylish and relaxed.
This top is £48 but really great over shirts or long sleeved t-shirts
This t-shirt is a great fun print £14 and the cardigan is £42 and again in that great camel colour which is key for this season.

Looking at maternity wear has been really good fun but I will be honest, I found some of the maternity collections really disappointing.  The first was the DVO collection with Very, it was really boring and slightly frumpy, it consisted of mostly basics that I felt were overpriced.  Having said that Very did stock mama's and papa's and another fab brand called South.
This top is £22, a bargain and would look great layered over a polo neck or long sleeved T!

When dressing your bump, don't loose your own personal style or individuality.  Experiment and have fun dressing your tummy as it is one of the only times we get to show off an expanding waistband rather than hiding it or squeezing it into SPANX!  When shopping, I would opt for Dorothy Perkins or H&M for basics, Topshop and Next for the style element and Isabella Oliver for the dressier options!

Ode to Amy

Recently my lovely friend Amy asked my thoughts on Winter coats and which ones had caught my eye..  So this little post is just that!

I love Winter and I am a girl who gets excited about packing away my summer clothes and bringing out all my lovely autumn winter favourites!  In fact, I did just that yesterday evening and the joy was all most too much to handle.

I am of the opinion that a winter coat is a big investment and that it should last you more than 1 winter.  I currently have a 'Happy Loves It' coat and I still think it works as it is a classic shape and looks just as good as the day I bought it!  But if I were investing again this year, which trust me I am tempted too every time I go shopping.  I would be opting for a classic shape that will look and feel great, but will stand the test of time.

This Reiss coat £325 fits the bill perfectly, it is flattering to the body, has just enough detail to not look boring, a high neck which is great for keeping the bad weather off your face and would look great with a coloured or camel coloured belt popped around the waist to add a little more excitement!
For something a little more unusual, I would opt for a Cape and this one from Warehouse is fab.  I might change the buttons to add a bit of interest and wear some long coloured gloves to finish the look but  at £75 it is a great addition to the winter wardrobe.
Another trend that is massive this season is Camel, so camel coloured coats and jackets are everywhere and most are trench or jacket shapes.  Personally I would opt for this snugly looking Batwing number £110 from Topshop.  It looks warm and stylish at the same time with a nod towards the Madmen trend.  I am predicting a very cold winter so this would be my coat of choice for extreme British weather.

Then we have the I wish I could afford this jacket, its £1800 from Jaeger and I Love Love Love it, why?  Well it has shearling on it, another massive trend for this season but it has it in a Luxury, more ME way than the flying jackets do!  I can just imagine popping on a fabulous dress, killer shoes and then slinking into this jacket to finish the look!
So I am off to play the lotto to see if I can win enough to buy my Jaeger coat!  Fingers crossed everyone. x

Office Brogues Baby

With the weather so terrible today, I can't help but wish that I had already started buying my Autumn Winter wardrobe.  I know we are in August and it is a terrible thing to say but seriously if the weather wont play summer then neither will I!

First thing on my list and the item I really need right now is a new shoe to protect me from the rain that will work with a rolled up straight leg jean and these Office Brogues are just the ticket, not to mention the colour!

They are £62 and will go with skirts or trousers as well as every item in my dream A/W wardrobe.

Yay to the fact it is my birthday next week, fingers crossed I get gifted money to purchase the little lovelies!

La Senza Autumn Winter 2010/2011 Press Launch

Yesterday was the Press launch of La Senza's Autumn Winter 2010 collection at the OUI rooms on Eastcastle Street.
I was there with NHJ Style to prep the models for the catwalk Tara Mears was the fabulous make-up artist and I was doing the girls hair and the fab La Senza team were dressing!

The OUI rooms are a great venue and the La Senza team had made the space feel really luxurious with scented candles, rugs and chaise lounges to evoke that luxury lingerie feeling.

The collection is great and caters for the bigger busted girl, usually a Bravisismo girl due to my large bust I am now converted! Some of the collection goes up to a GG so if you have 'prize bangers' head down to La Senza and try out the fun coloured bras!

The new collection falls under 4 themes which will be launched in stores in July and a few extra designs which are very sexy to arrive in September.

The first is Ebony and Ivory which has a fun and playful vibe with black and white stripes and polka dots as well as some fabulous butterfly prints. It has a playful burlesque vibe with big bow details and flashes of vibrant pinks that work really well with the monochrome collection.
My top 2 buys in this theme are the silk striped bra and knicker set and the butterfly print baby doll.

The second theme is Purity this is ultra feminine and romantic and my favourite theme. Garments had a vintage vibe to them with mixtures of silks and lace in soft peaches, pinks, creams and mocha. My favourite look was a chiffon and lace set which also has suspender belt option and goes up to an E cup!

Mischief does what it says on the packet! It has bold prints of leopard print, gingham and plaid next to Pyjama sets with captions and cartoons on. This is aimed at a younger consumer but some of the items caught my eye and I would choose the denim and pink combo as my personal preference.

The last theme is Enigma which is a more glamorous and eclectic selection. The colour pallet is very diverse with pinks, reds, silvers and greys as well as a delicate floral print! This collection is flirt and glamorous with a fabulous petrol blue set!

The Girls at La Senza produced a fabulous and sophisticated collection with some underwear sets that i will definitely be buying when they hit the shops in July!

I will be posting more pics of the event on twitter later today, so if you want to see more looks from the collection head to my twitter waceystyle.

Herve Leger New York Fashion Week

Apart from loving the fact that all the designers are making the shows more accessible for us I am also dying for it to be AW10 because some of the looks on the runway i would give both my kidneys for...
Just a quick low down of some of the outfits that i feel are fit for kidney donation.. from the Herve Leger A/W10 collection.
This 1st outfit was an absolute stand out for me. The detail in the Jacket is exquisite and a little reminiscent of the Jaeger jacket from A/W 08 but with a more sculpted look. It is slimming , edgy and feminine in one and the trousers are oh so fab! Please let me be a stone lighter and a millionaire in time to buy this outfit!!

Another look that caught my eye and one that people have been saying is a perfect Cheryl Cole outfit, is this fab high necked dress with futuristic detailing and that oh so flattering hip detail. Of course Cheryl Cole would look great in this... she would look great in a bin bag. But I would rather see Dannii Minogue wear this one as she would give it more edge with her unconventional up-do's
The entire collection was I think what we have all come to expect from a Herve Leger collection. A bodyconaliscious selection of bandage dresses of various shades and shapes, but this collection had a few stand out details, two of which are pictured above. For me the more futuristic looks with the repeated square detailing and scale like patterns had more wow factor especially in the high gloss materials. The other looks that caught my eye were the knitted looking dresses a little reminiscent of the Mark Fast S/S10 dresses, but for me personally this version is a much more glamorous look.
