Bafta Beauties

OUR BEST DRESSED on the red carpet tonight at the BAFTA's:

The winner of best dressed is Lupita Nyong'o, this lady has been nailing the RED CARPET looks this award season and today's outfit, a Couture Dior dress in vibrant green did not disappoint!  In fact it has made us even more excited about what she will be wearing at the OSCARS!!!

We also have to mention Fearne Cotton, who was looking super sexy in a William Vintage dress a 1980 Scaasi Gown to present from the red carpet for E!  Fearne you looked smoking HOT!

Lilly Allen also blew us away in Vivienne Westwood, whats not to love the colour is high octane and the fit is just so Vivienne!!!!  Not 100% behind the head gear but if anyone can rock it, the lovely Lilly can!

Also on the red carpet was British You Tube make-up guru Tanya Burr, showing that you do NOT have to be head to toe designer to hit the mark on the RED CARPET.  Tanya's dress is from Coast, we are not sure why Tanya was at the Bafta's but we are sure we will get to find out more on her YOU TUBE channel very soon!

Then we have to mention the most exciting outfits of the evening….. Being suckers for Jumpsuits and trouser suits,  we LOVED Ruth Wilson's  Antonio Berardi suit.  Lots of people hated this on the red carpet coverage but we think she looks fantastic, comfortable and sexy!

And Ruth was not alone opting for the trouser option… Angelina also wore an Yves Saint Laurent tux!  In fact so did Brad so they were really match match and it looked great.

Now to watch the actual prize giving bit and start our Oscar Outfit predictions!

Deeper shades of Blue on the SAG awards RED CARPET

As you all know... I love awards season!  I cant get enough of all the glitz and the glamour, and I LOVE the DRESSES!

The SAG Awards were just as pleasing for dress spotting as the Golden Globes, especially as there were ridiculous amounts of BLUE dresses on the red carpet......

BLUE is my all time favourite colour... I had a Blue engagement dress, a blue wedding dress and wore blue on my 30th!   Who says I am not a trend setter!

So here are my top dresses from the awards and shock horror they are all blue!

Amy Adams in Antonio Berardi

Anna Gunn in Monique Lhuillier

Lupita Nyong'o in Gucci

Juliette Lewis in Vivienne Westwood

Kathy Griffin in Antonio Berardi

You know that you are all wishing you were A list celebs wearing all these gorgeous gowns too......!

Jubilee Outfit.. done!

This week I made my Jubilee weekend outfit purchase and I have to say it is very me...

It is of course Vivienne Westwood who to me is the Queen of British Fashion and in fact the reason I decided to pursue a career in fashion, so it seemed only fitting that I should wear some Vivienne for the big Jubilee bash!  It cost me a small fortune £260 but a Toga style jersey dress will stand the test of time and will work all year round.

It also looks great with my new £12 necklace from Republic, it is called the Miso Spike and Bead necklace and it reminded me so much of Merle O'Grady's Bombshell necklace that I had to make it part of my growing jewellery collection!

                 Republic £12                              V    Merle O'Grady £256 (£50 now as previous season)

Birthday Bonanza

I am sooooooooooooooo sorry for the lack of blogging over the last 2 weeks I would love to say that it has been because I have been so run off my feet, which I have but it is more related to the fact that Tuesday the 16th was my birthday and I have been eking out the celebrations for as long as I could.

On Saturday the 13th the celebrations started with a shopping trip which ended with a purchase in Mulberry followed by high tea at The Soho Hotel with my uni girls and the boyfriend, he was there as official buyer of champagne...

Annoyingly this is the only pic I have of the afternoon of gorging, this is me modelling a very handy gift from my friend Sarah, its a turban towel for your hair!

It was not the best afternoon tea in terms of cake and service but the company was amazing!  Then it was back to Essex for work on the Sunday and Monday morning, I have to keep my clients happy!  A crazy busy working day on the Tuesday my actual birthday but a blow dry at Cobella made me look less shipwreck and more serene for my birthday dinner at Scott's with the family and the boyf but not before present opening and Vino at my lovely little house!

This is the gorgeous Mulberry purse that the boyf bought me......  I LOVE IT!

A mini photo call in the garden before heading off I love the dress my sister was wearing it is from M&S and looks so Roland Mouret galaxy dress!  I am wearing a Whistles dress and some lush Vivienne Westwood shoes (another birthday gift).

Annoyingly we were not allowed to take pics in Scott's but i managed this sneaky pic of my desert, it was the best meal I have ever had and will be returning once I have saved lots of money!

Check back tomorrow for part 2 of the birthday bonanza, not my birthday but a friends and some very interesting outfits!

Bafta Boo Boo"s

I love the award season because it should bring with it stunning dresses that make us non A-Lister's long for our very own red carpet moment.  But last night's Bafta's was a complete disappointment, I could only pick 3 dresses that actually worked for the actresses and one of those was Helena Bonhem Carter!  I mean who would of thought my favourite kooky dresser would actually have matching shoes, ok she was in Vivienne Westwood as she always is but it was figure flattering.

I predicted right with Amy Adams wearing that fab Elie Saab dress, I just wish she had opted for the green that I picked as it would have had more red carpet presence.  But my favourite look of the evening was Thandie Newton who looked stunning in this gorgeous Monique Lhuiller gown and to be honest made everyone else look less than average.

So let's look at the dud's..

Emma Watson usually gets it bang on but for some reason the hair, accessories and the Valentino gown just didn't work for her last night.  When I look at this photo I keep thinking she looks like Julie Andrews in the dancing scene from 'The Sound of Music' and I think from the look of this image she may have felt the same.

Young newcomer Hailee Steinfield who is only 14, looked a little granny chic in this Miu Miu number which needs a dose of sexy and a killer heel to carry off.  She gets points for fashion know how but I would rather see her in something more age appropriate for the Oscars.

OMG.... I can't believe that Jennifer Lawrence left the house like this...  The Stella McCartney dress is stunning but it makes her look like she has American football players shoulders, her bust looks ready to make a break for it and her choice of choker as an accessory just highlights the bust and shoulders.  A perfect example of when a beautiful dress and a beautiful women don't a great outfit make!

Is Eva Green auditioning to play Nigella Lawson in a new movie?   This Tom Ford dress makes her look much larger than she is!

I want to 'Scream' for Neve Campbell as this Roberto Cavalli dress is so very nearly great but the ruching on the bust makes her boobs appear a little saggy and the fall on the skirt is making her look hip heavy.  Her stylist should have adjusted her straps by an inch which would have corrected the bust, bought her waist higher and the skirt would have flowed over hips in a much more flattering line!

Mini Driver looks Blah in this Temperley gown.  I cant help but think if this had been worn in LA it would have worked better but she should have popped a fur shrug with this to make it look less wedding and more red carpet.

Viv's red nose day T's at TKMaxx

I have just placed my order for my Red Nose day T-Shirt and quite frankly I can't wait for it to arrive!

That is because the queen of fashion herself Vivienne Westwood has designed this great T-shirts  collection for red nose day 2011 that will be sold exclusively by TKMaxx.

So embrace your inner punk and checkout the fab collection of black and white prints with the quintessentially tongue in cheek aesthetic of Viv!  The prints fuse humour with History with designs featuring Rowan Atkinson and Miranda Richardson as their Blackadder characters 'Edmund' and 'Queenie', the laughing Audience by Hogarth and a Louis XVI lady.

I think the Blackadder T's will prove very popular because of the fantastic images of celebs wearing them shot by Brian Adams.
My two favourite designs are the Shakespeare T and the Punk girl vest, the first because I love Shakespeare and the second because it will look fab with my black sequin skirt!  Which once it arrives I will be taking pic's of...

Westwood has also done great prints for the little rugrats too with a typically Vivienne pirate design and then a mother and baby elephant design so the Kids can join in with the fun!

The T-shirts are manufactured in Africa with 100% Fairtrade organic cotton.  So to own a piece of fashion history go to your local TKMaxx store or to TKMaxx on line prices are from £5.99 for a kiddy's 'T' to £14.99 for a ladies fashion 'T' and all net profits from sales of the range will go to Comic Relief.
