Best Dressed at The Golden Globes 2014

Last Night was the first night of the BIG Award Ceremony Season. The Golden Globes red carpet was an array of gorgeous gowns to make us all swoon and wish that we were Superstars living in Hollywood!

Even though very few of us will ever need to wear gowns that cost the same as a studio apartment in Mayfair, it is nice to take a look and a bit of inspiration anyway!

Below are some pictures of the best dresses on the carpet and why I like them:

My first mention is Lena Dunham, in this Zac Posen dress..  I am a massive fan of yellow on the Red Carpet as it packs such a punch and I LOVE the fact that this dress embraces her CURVES!!!!  The only thing I would have changed would be the neckline to something similar to this Zac Pre fall dress...

I also thought that Julia Roberts looked phenomenal in this Dolce & Gabbana dress...  This is a style trick we could all use to turn around an old strapless dress and the shirt makes it feel very black tie!  I would have added in a more statement accessory but still think she looks chic!

Next up our very own Emma Watson looked very demure from the front in this RED Dior dress but it was at the back that the dress had its wow!! I love it when a young start takes a fashion risk (and not one where they are basically just naked)

Last but not least I have to mention another British star...  Helen Mirren who always nails the red carpet and last night was no different in this striking mint green Jenny Packham number with her fab new cropped hair!  This woman ouses style!

Other dresses that need mentioning are the ones that are great Body shape dress examples:

Perfect hourglass dress - Highlights the symmetrical curves beautifully
 Dress by Max Azria Atelier

This is great for a pair shape as the shoulders work really well at balancing the bottom and hips.
Dress by Marchesa

The perfect dress for Strawberry and Rhubarb girls:
Dress by Dolce & Gabbana

Great for our apple shapes is this dress with a column of draped fabric to disguise that tummy area:
Dress by Thakoon
