Christmas Gifts

Hurray for the best boyfriend in the world! I knew that writing this blog was a good idea as the boyf had a brainwave and consoulted my blog and twitter to see what was I was waxing lyrical about and under the tree was a beautiful pair of Lucy Hutchings earrings which I have not taken off and a fab Reiss cardigan, which he said i could use for layering... and there was me thinking he never listens!

Then the rents wowed me with the most adorable Marc Jacobs handbag and and armarni dress which will look fab once i get back in the gym and loose the christmas pudding pouch!

I must not leave out my lovely big sis either as she bought me a Karen Millen jumper dress and a fab Ted Baker stripey jumper!
See some of the fab gifts below, would love to hear about any fab fashion gifts recieved or given. Also i hope all my gals liked there little Marc Jacobs presents, I chose a brand this year and stuck to it! But the little lipstick pens, oyster card holders and rings were such a bargain and great stocking fillers!

Coveting for Christmas

I am always on the look out for that perfect piece of statement jewellery and i have finally found a designer who's pieces have the wow factor. Lucy Hutchings who's pieces can be found at Liberty's and Start boutique are fantastic!
Her A/W 09 collection is inspired by 1950's B movie heroines with a strong influence from Sci Fi movies, the result is moody and glamorous with with beautifully crafted orbs of various colours and textures in cased in gold chain cages that for some reason make me think of the film 'The Fifth Element'
On my covet list is this magical necklace pearl orbs and one stand out midnight green orb, I think this would look fabulous with an evening dress!

I also adore these pendulum like earrings, which Cheryl Cole wore on X factor.

Lucy's Summer collection is just as breathtaking with a repeat of the shapes and cages that are synonymous with her but with less of an ethereal feel and more of a glamorous twist.

Channelling DKNY!

I love the DKNY look this season, mainly because i am a sucker for a fab pencil skirt but because it is classy and chic at the same time. My favourite look is actually the red dress with the black poloneck underneath which is in this image:
All of the items mix and match into an exsisting wardrobe really easily and i can see them working just as hard for me in seasons to come. I had an uber exciting business meeting last week and used these DKNY add's as my inspiration and it worked a treat. My red poloneck was just the ticket in a room full of people wearing head to toe black generic officewear and my French Connection houndstooth skirt was bang on trend and gave me the sexy business vibe i was hoping for. What more could a girl want, well the deal would be nice (fingers crossed).

Kate 'V' Victoria

Two fab Photoshoots for December issues but which one do you prefer?

I am a massive fan of Kate Hudson. Having watched 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' pretty much every week with my uni house mates, I practically feel like she went to uni with me!! The cover for Elle was really clean and fresh and i thought her styling for the shoot was great but I think it was a shame to use the same outfit so many times! Yes that Dolce and Gabbana silk dress is to die for, but i would have loved to see her in something a little more creative especially with her uber toned body. Something a little more out there next to those amazing shots of her in the Chanel underwear and Lanvin hairpiece would have made those gladiator esque shots much more exciting.

Don't get me wrong she looks fabulous and it is much more edgy than how she is usually photographed, but when you compare it to the styling on the Victoria Beckham shoot in the December Harper's Bazaar I think it pales into insignificance.

The Dolce and Gabbana ruffle jacket, belt and Knickers in this shot look amazing and make much more of an impact than the dress in the Elle shoot.

Then the underwear shot! Although I think Kate Hudson's new figure is fantastic, the shots of Victoria are much more feminine. The Jean Paul Gaultier tights elongate her legs and the vintage bra keeps it classy. The 2nd shot of Victoria with her back to camera even makes her tattoo appealing!

Glam Show Live

This weekend was the 1st ever Glam Show Live and the weather made me even happier to be working at the weekend. I was there with NHJ Style, styling the lovely attendees. It was a hectic 2 days with ladies of all shapes and sizes being belted, accessorized and squeezed into the latest trends. My favourite item on the rail was a houndstooth coat from ZARA:

I think it is such a fab coat and so easy to wear my favourite look for this coat was adding black leather gloves and red lips.

The biggest revelation of the weekend for most of the ladies was finding out there actual bra size! Yes most ladies had been fitted by a well known high street shop and were all in ill fitting bra's that were being about as useful as a chocolate tea pot! It is amazing what the correct bra can do for your silhouette, posture and comfort. We found waists that women had not seen for years due to the fact that there bust was resting on it, there were also yelps of joy when they found out their actual sizes, One lady was wearing a 38D and measured in at 34F a massive difference.

Checkout Bravissimo's hints and tips on finding out if your bra fits you:

Step One - Check to ensure that you are wearing the correct back size.
a) The strap should be firm around your body
b) The strap should be horizontal at the back
c) You can run two fingers under the band

Step Two – Check to ensure the wires sit flat between your boobs and aren't being pushed away from your body.
a) Flat wires at the front

Step Three – Check to ensure you are wearing the right cup size.
a) Your boobs should be enclosed in the cup with no wrinkling of fabric
b) Your boobs don't bulge over top or side of the cups
c) Even in a balconette or plunge bra

The event was a big success for our pod and the weekend came to an end with a much deserved glass of bubbles, yummy. Also my fab feather Oasis Skirt did not get destroyed in the rain on the way home, although i did look rather dishevelled.

Obsessed with interiors!

I have noticed that I have had a growing obsession with interiors recently and I have finally worked out why!! I think it is partly because my Sister is about to move out of the house we have shared for nearly 5 years, and my boyfriend is about to move in. I hate to admit it but I have become a little bit crazy with creating the perfect look for our little love nest!

However I have noticed that my purchases seem to be mirroring the fashion trends that are on my never ending wish list.

Our first joint purchase was our second hand Barcelona chair which the Boyf found on Gumtree and looks fab in the lounge. The chair was purchased days after i decided not to buy the super sleek leather Muubaa asymmetric biker jacket from ASOS

So i bought this instead of this.....

Then I go to the Graham & Green warehouse sale and come back £300 poorer, because the magpie in me can't resist anything slightly embellished. This is due to my current obsession with AW/09 Alberta Ferretti's, embellished boots and dresses so I buy:

4 beautiful wall lights that look like crushed crystals,
instead of spending my life savings on these delicious
Alberta Ferretti boots not to mention the rest of the
collection.

Whilst spending my hard earned money in the Graham & Green sale, I literally walk into a gorgeous side table. The problem with this purchase is that i can't connect it to any specific fashion trend so.... WHO CARES..... I LOVE IT!

The good news is that the boyfriend offered to pay half. Yay. So tomorrow I am heading out shopping for ummmmm..... a Leather Jacket!

Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen...

I have just returned from the wonderful city of Copenhagen and she is a lovely old girl of the sea!

I revisited my childhood memories of Hans Christian Anderson stories and songs from the film with Danny Kaye. But also found lots of new items to add to my wish list.

The jewellery shops are fabulous and you can see each piece being made in the shops. The jewellery is very delicate looking with a modern twist like these fab rings from Iron Inc.

I also fell in love with the Elements range of Copenhagen china designed by Louise Campbell who is also the brain behind the Prince Chair and the Collage Light. Being a true Brit i love high tea and think this tea cup and saucer are adorable.

Caped crusader

I have always been drawn to quirky outerwear...

Opting for coloured, printed, fluffy, embellished over your drab everyday coat or mac. But my true love when it comes to coats is a 3/4 length sleeve beauty that enables me to indulge in as many long gloves as i can and embrace my penchant for layering....

There has been the pink faux Chanel jacket that saw me embrace silky gloves with pearl embellishment, the black cropped jacket that highlighted my purple leather dominatrix gloves. The 70's retro print jacket that looked Divine with my autumnal toned leather gloves and my 70's suede and Mongolian wool long length coat that went with every single one of my long length woolys...

But now i have my new favourite... the cape, I adore them they keep you warm but make you feel like a fashion superhero as you sashay around the shops. You can layer away underneath and still look super chic especially when you add a pair of oh so awesome studded or embellished gloves... ggrrrThese are £69.00 from Reiss.

Designer capes i love this season:
Marc Jacobs. wool cape jacket £1,070

Derek Lam's cashmere-blend cape £1,635.

Me styling out my lovely woolen zip front cape from Reiss (£125.00) in Copenhagen...

TK Maxx Private Viewing Night

Last night was the launch of the new Putney womenswear only store and i had the pleasure of being there with NHJ Style to give trend talks and style the eager shoppers.
The champers was flowing, the Dollyrockers were singing, the nails inc girls were tuning out beautifully painted talons and the 5 minute massage angels were rubbing away peoples woes!

The event had a really young and fresh feel about it and the stock catered for young and old alike there were Dolce and Gabbana skirt suits, valentino classic 2 piece get ups, Catherine Melandrino dresses and Chloe wide leg trousers all with fab discounts but my two top picks were Lanvin satin cigarette pants only £199 and a cute Miu Miu cropped cape jacket.
Tk Maxx is well worth a look.... Well done to Lucy McGonigle for organising such a fun night, the only downsides were the weather providing that much loved drowned rat look for most of the customers and the fact that my low carb diet went out the window as the 4th stand of lola's cupcakes that passed me officially became my dinner!

Let me clutch!!!

I love the Alexander McQueen Knuckle duster clutch... It has impact, embellishment and most of all it is a little bit naughty! With a little LBD and a killer clutch how can a girl go wrong!

In all seriousness i am really drawn to the man eater side of this bag, to slip my fingers into those bejewelled rings would make me feel like I was the new model for the agent provocateur ads wielding a whip rather than a stylist encased in head to toe SPANX! If only i had £995 to spend on it!!

Other little clutches that have caught my eager eye...
The whistles bicker zip clutch... a little bit sassy, fab with skinny jeans and a statement shoulder. £150.

Or this fab little Sabina, small bucket stud bag from Reiss.. so cute and only £159!

Stop Fast..ing Yourselves..

The Mark Fast goings on have been fab to watch unfold over the last few days...
Plus size models on the catwalk gasp of horror from one camp raucous cheer from the other!!
I am firmly positioned on camp cheer!! It is great to have real women on the catwalk as well as the conventional model size!! The only gripe i have with this styling is the underwear! I think that the ill fitting undies created lumps and bumps where they needn't have been and detracted from the garments!
Other than the sack the stylist debacle in the news, the important thing about this collection is how fantabulous it is with lots of Va Va Voom cut outs to tease us,
and woven tassels to please us!

London Fashion Week

Eun Jeong

This show was angelic and serene with its beautifully embellished pieces... The draping and tailoring were elegant but with a very modern twist which came from the choice of fabrics and cut. With lace and silver featuring heavily the draping and repeated bib shape brought images of angel creratures and the white colour scheme and candy floss hair kept that image in my mind.
The embellishment on the garmnts was intricate and beautifull the sort found on the most beautiful of bridal gowns! Silver embroidery nestled between chiffon and lace ruffles and draped fabric, with layer of pearls added to the mix. The garments had a romantic and etherial look but with a wearable modern vibe.

Bootylicious.... I am going crazy fot the boots that are available this season! Do i go sculptural and Vavavoom with these Giuseppe Zanotti bad boys or Supersexy with some thigh high stella's?

Probably neither due to cash flow but if i could i would.. But dont panic that your credit card is maxed out as there are some fab highstreet must haves in the boot department.. Check out these thigh high boots from Topshop below they are suede and only £100 and compared to Brian Atwoods jamie boots at £1,020 they are a steal!! If it was the Zanotti bad boys that you liked then check out these little asos shoe boots, a flash of red keeps them super sexy!
Dune also have some fab tassle covered knee highs perfect for that relaxed comfort or Russian romance look...

Sequin Sensation

I have been loving adding glitz to my S/S09 look.. In fact it has been my fail-safe day to evening add on. But i am going to really embrace Sequins this A/W!!

  • For the perfect day to Eve look I am going to be credit crunching it.. with 3 season ago Monsoon black sequin dress similar shape to the Mathew Wiliamson above, teamed with leggings, flat boots (thigh high if my budget will stretch) and an over sized last season Ted Baker cardigan. Then i can loose the boots and cardigan - add heels, shoulder pads and lipstick for a night out on the town!
  • I may treat myself to the ASOS sequin jacket with a 3/4 length sleeve, to wear with my high waisted jeans and a white T-shirt as I think a jacket with glitz will be a great investment and see me through Autumn as my main Jacket then become my evening jacket when the nights get colder!
  • I am also coveting the H&M nude sequin dress as this would be really cute with pumps now when its hot but I could give it a more edgy twist with black or navy tights and some studded or high drama ankle boots (like the fan new Burberry ones) and chunky jewellery for later this year!
Embrace the sequins and don't be afraid to mix them into your day looks as sequin separates are everywhere this season!
